Flying away
So despite getting to the airport on time, check in was a bit stuffed up. The air Canada flight was closed so they couldn't check me in to that. After waiting around for people to sort it out I was getting worried-- my Sydney flight was almost boarding. So i got them to get me checked into that anyway, and I have to visit the Air Canada counter in Sydney. Fingers crossed! Hopefully my 💼 gets through ok.
Argh, by the time I got to the gate it was already boarding at I was at the end of the line. Phew!
But look what the planes are like now. They give you an iPad! (not to keep).
It clips into the back of the seat and plugs into charge there too!
Wow.

So I sorted everything out in Sydney.
And waited... finally an hour and a half latent we were boarded. I was initially worried-- I'd selected an aisle seat but somehow ended up with a middle seat? Wtf? I'm sure the map only had 2 seats in this row and there's 3.
But-- there is a god. There's no one else in my row. I've got it all to myself! 😀
Dinner time. It's 1pm. Sure I'll have some red wine. Get into the proper timezone.
It's so funny to hear Canadian accents.
The woman sitting in front of me is playing angry birds on the seat screen. The man is watching a movie. Every now and then I turn my screen on to look at the map, but mostly I'm either dozing or listening to music from my phone.
12 hours so far. It will be 15 from Sydney. Add 6 hours for getting to Sydney.
Looks like I'll be too late for the connection, but there's a plane every hour to Toronto, so it should work out on. Like our bus service to the box Hill on the weekend.
Or not-- looks like that one is delayed by an hour too, so it might work out.
1/2 hour from landing, they come through asking Rubbish? garbage? Ha, bilingual.
...
And now it's about 24 hours since I woke up. The plane is still about to leave Vancouver. More delays. Sigh.
Coming into Vancouver I saw mountains all around. Quite beautiful, but sadly I didn't have time or a good place from which to take a picture.
